Through the Influent Streams Music Project, passionate musicians perform originally arranged and written music in the city of Houston to inspire new passion and new awareness. These performances seek to promote authentic, positive music without respect to race or creed. IS sets a standard that the artists involved create new, original music, and do not perform any pre-recorded music.

The city of Houston is rich with cultural arts. Internationally known artists live and show their art in our city. As the city’s arts scene grows, some of its younger patrons are slipping into dangerous behaviors. Binge drinking and STD rates are above the national average for Houston young people. We believe that the root cause of this destructive behavior is displaced passion. Through the Influent Streams Music Project (IS), passionate musicians perform originally arranged and written music in local venues, and in partnership with organizations that share our value to create meaningful, culturally-enriching experiences in the city.

Through “influent streams” of music and art, this project seeks to influence culture, inspire new music, awaken sensibility, and raise social awareness. IS has successfully  partnered with 10 artists and bands to date, reaching thousands of people from different cultures, generations and people groups. Three of the bands have been The Houston Press’ Artists-Of-The-Week and been awarded Houston Press Awards. Each band has since released EPs and full albums and continues to perform and grow their craft and career.

IS artists are provocateurs who passionately provoke responses to the needs of our city by challenging concertgoers to avoid destructive behavior and explore new passions by creating their own artistic expressions, and new purpose by seeking to meet the needs of others.
